ALL STAR CHEER SQUAD TAKES BACK TO BACK NATIONAL TITLES

EC All Stars of Loomis takes 2 National titles so far this season. The girls at Extreme Cheer (EC ALL STARS) on Swetzer Rd in Loomis have worked hard all season long and the hard work is paying off. On February 1st the team placed 1st in the Level 3 division at the Athletic Championship National Competition in San Mateo . February 14th the team took 1st place again in San Franciso at the COA Nationals competition at this competition they also took home the honor of Grand Champion which ment they had the high score of the day.

Victory! Cheerleading wins national title

From an article in the Independent Tribune:

It was confidence, repetition and a close bond that cheerleaders from the Victory! Cheerleading all-star senior team credit for their recent win at the 2008-09 Cheersport National Championship in Atlanta.

The team was judged on tumbling, stunts, dance, presentation and other factors during its routine that was two minutes and 32 seconds long.

FCIAC Cheerleading — Stamford wins sixth straight co-ed crown

Earlier in the season there was just one thing stopping the Stamford High School cheerleading squad from chasing down its sixth straight FCIAC co-ed championship trophy.

No boys.

“We lost both of our boys last year, so we went into the season not knowing if we were going to be co-ed,” said head coach Tiffany Clark. “We were lucky to have two boys join us early in the season and then, after much recruiting, we got two football players and a baseball player. We’re glad to have them. They have some talent, which is good.”

That talent was put to good use as those six Knight boys joined forces with 21 girls to claim the school’s sixth straight co-ed title at Saturday’s FCIAC Championship Competition at Wilton High School’s Zeoli Field House

Visalia cheerleaders to be subject to drug testing, just like athletes

High school cheerleaders have argued for years that they’re athletes — just like football, baseball and basketball players. Cheerleaders do complex stunts, work out with weights, and practice from June to March.

Now cheerleaders in Visalia can prove their point: They’re being tested for drugs. Under a school policy approved last month, cheerleaders must submit to the same random drug tests given to other student-athletes. It appears to be the first district in the central San Joaquin Valley to take this step.

Lemont cheerleaders bring home state title

Lemont High School posted its first-ever team state championship Saturday afternoon when its cheerleading squad won the medium-school title at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

The Indians’ 4.30-point margin of victory over second-place Rich South is the second-largest in the history of the competition.

The state champion cheerleading squad will be honored at the school’s winter spirit assembly at approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the gymnasium.
