Players must move the wireless Wii Remotes as directed by the on-screen indicators to choreographed routines, utilizing a full range of arm and body movements such as spins and twists. As each routine is successfully performed, the player will be able to recruit new team members to their squad, adding new cheerleading abilities and choreographed routines. I mentioned the We Cheer video game a while back. Looks like it is getting closer to release. I have received an email from the company asking if I would like a copy to demo. We’ll see what happens with this.

We Cheer is a new videogame coming out for the Wii console in a few months. It is designed for all ages, with an emphasis on youth, and teaches invigorating cheerleading moves set to a very cool soundtrack. The music ranges from Hilary Duff and Aly & AJ, to KC & The Sunshine Band. Using your Wii remotes as pom-poms, We Cheer puts you in the role of captain and it’s your job to get your squad ready for some high kicking, high jumping, electrifying moves that will bring your team to the number one spot at the world championship tournament!

– You get to customize your super-cute character’s look and outfit

– There are multiple playing modes, including Competitive Mode where you can play up to 4 players, and Exercise Mode which counts calories based on the intensity of the workout

During Namco Bandai’s Gamers Days Namco announced another new Cheerleading video game.

Letting friends and family participate in the cheerleading fun, We Cheer features cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes for up to four players to determine who deserves to stand at the top of the pyramid. The game also features a workout mode that lets players keep track of approximately how many calories they have burned while cheering. Each character in the game is fully customizable, with a variety of uniforms, shoes and accessories to choose from for added personalization.

Jenn Smith with American Cheerleader Magazine has a blog post about the new cheerleading video game coming out this fall from THQ called All-Star Cheer Squad.  She got a chance to hang with the choreographer and the cheerleaders as they rehearsed before heading into the studio.

Looks like Namco Bandai has filed a trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office for We Cheer. There is not word from Namco Bandai on a release date yet but this is a definite challenge to THQ which announced the release of All-Star Cheerleading earlier this month.

Both games will be available on Nintendo’s Wii.
