Twist and Shout team wins big – PittsburghLIVE.com.

The Twist and Shout Academy’s senior level cheerleading and dance team won a national championship at a competition in Pittsburgh last month sponsored by Great Lakes Cheer. The girls also won the event’s grand champion award.

The team will travel to Wisconsin for a competition March 21 and 22 to win a bid to a world cheerleading competition held at Walt Disney World in Florida in April. The girls will be fundraising for the competition.

DHS cheerleaders head to nationals

The high school’s competition cheerleading team will travel to California later this month for the group’s first performance on the national stage.

The dozen young Demons will compete against an estimated 35 other teams in the national competition’s novice category. The team qualified for nationals at a competition held in the fall in Phoenix.

Wolverines cheerleading squad earns berth in U.S. finals

The Wolverine Elite All Stars cheerleading squad recently captured a first-place finish at the Great Lakes Upstate Championship in Rochester, N.Y. The victory gives the team, which consists of cheerleaders from throughout Niagara west, a qualifying bid in the U.S. finals.

The Junior Wolverines, made up of 12- to 14-year olds, has been training together since last June and has placed second at the Cheer Alliance Fall Classic last November and first at the Powercheer Christmas Challenge in December. They are coming off a national championship season from 2008 in the Small Junior Level 2 division.

Sebring High Cheerleaders Are 9th In Prestigious National Contest.

SEBRING – The Sebring High School Varsity Co-Ed cheerleaders advanced to the final round of the National High School CheerleadingChampionship, the most prestigious cheerleading contest in the country. They placed ninth in the nation, against 17 other top squadsfrom across the country.

The NHSCC is held at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, and nationally televised on ESPN and ESPN2 to more than 100 million homes and 32 countries nationwide each year.

It’s back-to-back state championships for Carlson cheerleaders

The Carlson cheerleading team capped a great season with a second straight Michigan High School Athletic Associa-tion Division 2 state championship in Grand Rapids Saturday.

The Marauders domi-nated the Division 2 com-petition, winning each of the three rounds and scor-ing 807.1184 points.

Carlson’s point total was the second highest in the state finals regardless of division. Only Division 1 Rochester (811.2480) scored higher.

GHS cheerleaders competing in Viewer’s Choice competition

Granville High School cheerleaders are one of 43 high school cheerleading and dance teams competing to win $500 in a Time Warner Cable Viewer’s Choice contest on Local On Demand, where every view counts as a vote.

The squads recently competed at two OASSA regional competitions, filmed by Time Warner. Each team performance now can be viewed on Local On Demand, available by tuning to Channel 1.

Grandville Cheerleading team wins Regionals

The Grandville competitive cheerleading team won the regional title last weekend and will compete in the state finals for the 16th straight year. Competitive cheerleading first became a competition around 1981, and every year since Grandville has been in the state finals, competing for the title.

Everyone on the team contributed as the Bulldogs won the first two rounds of the competition, and finished with a good third round to propel them to the win. The final score was 799.5144, and East Kentwood finished in second with a score of 793.0464.

ALL STAR CHEER SQUAD TAKES BACK TO BACK NATIONAL TITLES

EC All Stars of Loomis takes 2 National titles so far this season. The girls at Extreme Cheer (EC ALL STARS) on Swetzer Rd in Loomis have worked hard all season long and the hard work is paying off. On February 1st the team placed 1st in the Level 3 division at the Athletic Championship National Competition in San Mateo . February 14th the team took 1st place again in San Franciso at the COA Nationals competition at this competition they also took home the honor of Grand Champion which ment they had the high score of the day.

FCIAC Cheerleading — Stamford wins sixth straight co-ed crown

Earlier in the season there was just one thing stopping the Stamford High School cheerleading squad from chasing down its sixth straight FCIAC co-ed championship trophy.

No boys.

“We lost both of our boys last year, so we went into the season not knowing if we were going to be co-ed,” said head coach Tiffany Clark. “We were lucky to have two boys join us early in the season and then, after much recruiting, we got two football players and a baseball player. We’re glad to have them. They have some talent, which is good.”

That talent was put to good use as those six Knight boys joined forces with 21 girls to claim the school’s sixth straight co-ed title at Saturday’s FCIAC Championship Competition at Wilton High School’s Zeoli Field House

Lemont cheerleaders bring home state title

Lemont High School posted its first-ever team state championship Saturday afternoon when its cheerleading squad won the medium-school title at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

The Indians’ 4.30-point margin of victory over second-place Rich South is the second-largest in the history of the competition.

The state champion cheerleading squad will be honored at the school’s winter spirit assembly at approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the gymnasium.
