The Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku on Wednesday called sought the approval of the Federal Government to allow Nigerians carry guns over the prevailing insecurity in the country.
He explained that the proposal was informed by worsening security situation across Nigeria as he argued that with an AK-47 in the hands of everyone, criminals will approach their targets with more caution
“Let everyone carry an AK-47,” he said in an interview.
The Governor stated this when chairmen of local government areas in the state visited him over the death of their colleagues who was kidnapped before he was killed.
“If one thing you do everyday is not working correctly you should seek advise from someone else how to do it correctly,” Ishaku said
The Governor said further, “If we cannot be able to provide security for our citizens, then allow them to buy AL-47. If everybody is licensed with AK-47, I swear nobody will come to your house and if anyone comes to your house it will then be about who is faster.”
