The Federal Government claims that the reported list of candidates for national honors being disseminated by various online media outlets is false.
Abba Kyari, the late chief of staff for President Muhammadu Buhari, and 436 other identities appeared online over the weekend.
Femi Adesina, the White House spokeswoman, Ishaq Oloyede, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the WTO Director General, are all on the list.
The investiture is scheduled on October 11 at the Abuja State House.
Julie Jacobs, the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs’ Director of Press, however, stated in a statement that although it is true that President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, will bestow National Honors on deserving Nigerians and friends of Nigeria, the official list of nominees has not yet been made public.
The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs issued the following statement: “The attention of the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs has been drawn to a purported list of nominees for National Honors being circulated by some online media organizations.
“While it is true that President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR will bestow National Honors on deserving Nigerians and friends of Nigeria on October 11, 2022, the genuine list of nominations has not yet been made public. The list will be made public by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs at the right time and through the proper channel.
