250 Women Get Empowerment In Computer Technology

No fewer than 250 Imo women have benefited from the collaboration between the Imo State government and a leading software development company  in computer technology.

The beneficiaries were exposed to the web site and embedded systems design which would enable them to build smart solutions like vehicle traffic control systems and office automation systems.

Speaking at an event to mark the conclusion of the training, the Commissioner for Technology Development Chief Mekaam Mgbenwelu said the programme would build their capacities in computer operation.

He noted that the knowledge acquired would help proffer solutions to contemporary problems and gave as assurance that the state government would prioritize technology acquisition, especially among the youths.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Emeka Ihedioha on Information and Advocacy Miss Adaora Onyechere said the knowledge acquired from the twelve weeks training had prepared the beneficiaries to fight poverty and reposition them to face emerging challenges.

One of the beneficiaries Ngozika Uche thanked the government for the gesture noting that she had developed a software that would enable people to check the status of their sight.

Radio Nigeria reports that three persons with outstanding performance received one hundred thousand naira each with laptop computers while four others that followed got one hundred thousand naira each from the wife of the governor Mrs Ebere Ihedioha.
