An Ijebu Prince and former Chairman of Yemoji Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ogun State, Prince (Dr.) Dayo Adebanjo, has described the Aare Atunluse of Aworiland and the Chairman of Mapcotec Nigeria Limited, Aare (Surveyor) Dr Segun Osifeso, as a bridge-builder. And a philanthropist of note whose sterling contributions to the nation’s socio-economic growth have earned him commendation and special recognition by his people both in Ijebuland and Aworiland.
Adebanjo, who made this remark during the recent courtesy call on the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona by the Olota of Ota, Oba (Professor) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, other Awori Obas, Aare Segun Osifeso and other chiefs in Aworiland, noted that Aare Osifeso had indeed shaped the course of history of the Yoruba race having given a name and a new face to the face of social responsibility by deliberately doing the greatest good for the greatest majority within his Yoruba community and beyond.
The Ijebu Prince stressed that from time immemorial, Aare Osifeso had always commanded high regards and the Olota and other Awori Obas must have carefully considered Aare Osifeso’s various activities and contributions to the community’s socio-economic growth before finding him worthy of the honour.
He further described the inherent qualities of track records, steadfastness, honesty, exemplary leadership, proven integrity, caring for the welfare of the masses and courage among several others as indescribable cords that bind Nigeria’s front line legal icon, educationist, valiant entrepreneur and unsparing philanthropist, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) and Nigeria’s first Air Survey Navigation Engineer, Aare (Surveyor) Dr Segun Osifeso (FNIS) together.
Adebanjo, therefore, noted that it was the combination of Aare Osifeso”s sterling qualities and his impacting humanitarian and philanthropic activities that have won the foremost surveying practitioner the accolades and recognition by his people both in Ijebuland and Aworiland
The former LCDA chairman stressed that the Ijebus, home and abroad, were very appreciative of Aare Osifeso for making them proud in Aworiland where he had stayed since 1982, contributed immensely to the town’s socio-economic growth and eventually got honoured with the highly revered Aare Atunluse of Aworiland chieftaincy title.
He, however, explained that the Ijebus felt highly honoured that their son could be so honoured with a prestigious chieftaincy title of such high influence by the Awori Obas and the people, stressing that the great honour on Aare Osifeso would not only be beneficial to the loving people of Aworiland and Ogun State in particular but also be a challenge to him to continue to do more for the Nigerian people in general.
“Aare Osifeso has, no doubt, through his contributions to the nation’s socio-economic growth, provided a beacon especially for his people both in Ijebuland and Aworiland and we just pray the Almighty to further strengthen him and give him long life to continue to hold aloft the banner of excellence, which has earned him commendation and special recognition by the people”, said Prince Adebanjo.
