Adetutu Adedokun, a worker with the Department of State Services, has been identified as the woman who plunged into the Lagos Lagoon on Thursday afternoon (DSS).
After a fierce dispute with her lover, who was rumored to have just proposed to her and they were talking about getting married, Adedokun plunged into the lagoon.
The Uber driver claimed that Adedokun and her partner got into a fight, and in the midst of it, she told him to stop and got out of the car.
Adetutu Adedokun then made her way to the bridge’s rails and dove into the lagoon.
In an update, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the occurrence.

“Upon arrival of the LRT at the incident location, investigation revealed that a woman in her late thirties (30s) dived into the Lagos lagoon,” stated Oke-Osanyintolu.
The woman got out of an Uber vehicle on the bridge and dove into the lagoon, according to further inquiry.
Before getting out of the vehicle, the driver claimed to be engaged in a furious argument with her fiancé.
Officials from the Department of State Service (DSS), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASWA, and the LRT are currently on the scene and collaborating more effectively to look for the victim.
She has not been located as of this afternoon, according to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos police command.
