COVID-19 Vaccine Doses For Lagos Arrive

Lagos State government has received its shares of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines that arrived in Abuja last week

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who confirmed the arrival of the vaccine in the state said it arrived on Tuesday.

Sanwo-Olu who spoke at the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation said the doses are part of the about 4 million that arrived last week.

Though the governor did not disclose the number of doses allocated to Lagos State, he, however, assured residents that the vaccines were kept in a safe place.

Recall that on March 2, TheCheer reported that about four million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were shipped through the COVAX Facility to Nigeria.

Sanwo-Olu urged Lagosians to continue to observe COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of facemasks, washing of hands and observing social distancing

Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, while confirming the arrival of the vaccines, said: “We’re making progress. The world will see the end of the pandemic. Good morning Lagos.”
