By DAYO ADESULU

Dangote Petroleum Refinery on Wednesday March 19, 2025 announced a temporary suspension of petroleum product sales in Naira. This measure, according to a released is essential to align its sales proceeds with  crude oil purchase obligations, which are denominated in U.S. dollars.

It reads:; “Our current sales in Naira have surpassed the value of Naira-denominated crude received, necessitating this currency adjustment for sales. This pause ensures our operations remain in sync with our procurement realities.

“We also refute recent online rumors alleging that loading operations have been halted due to ticket fraud. These claims are entirely false. Our systems are robust, and we assure our stakeholders there are no fraud issues within our operations.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery remains dedicated to serving the Nigerian market efficiently. We will resume sales in Naira promptly once we receive Naira-denominated crude cargo allocations from NNPC.”
