A former prisoner in the British facility where Ike Ekweremadu was housed has provided some information on the former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria’s life while there.
The Guardian UK reports that Ekweremadu began helping others while he was awaiting charges for “facilitating and organising flights to exploit “a 21-year old,” former convict, Mr. X, claimed.
He called him a “simple and nice man.” However, the Nigerian-born X claimed that prior to their meeting in His Majesty’s Prison, he had never heard of the Senator.
The former prisoner revealed that Ekweremadu received support from those he had assisted in the past. He was convicted at the Old Bailey last week Friday along with his wife, Beatrice, and Dr Obinna Obeta.

X, who has been free since late September following the Southwark Crown Court jury’s “not guilty” finding, added that the Senator spent a lot of time reading the Bible and praying when he was with Wandsworth.
In a glowing recommendation for the former vice president of the senate, X stated that “he was teaching. He was instructing many people from Eastern Europe in English.
