England, Wales Weekly COVID-19 Death Toll Hit 1,000

The weekly coronavirus death toll in England and Wales has reached 1,000 in the first time since June, new official figures show.

A total of 1,379 deaths registered in the week ending October 30 mentioned Covid-19 on the death certificate, according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

It is the first time the weekly figure has been above 1,000 since the week ending June 12.

It is also the highest number of deaths involving Covid-19 since the week ending June 5.
