Ese Brume has emerged the biggest winner of the 2019 Nigerian Sports Award held at the Eko Hotel and Suites.
Brume carted home the female athlete and sports woman of the year gongs categories she contested for.
Recall that Brume won bronze medal for Nigeria at the 2019 World Athletics Championship in Doha in long jump.
Nigerians massively voted Brume for rich archive. She won Nigeria’s only medal at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar. Brume also won a bronze in the long jump event at the same competition.
Brume leapt a distance of 6.91m, her second longest career jump, to win the bronze medal behind pre-championships favourite, Germany’s Malaika Mihambo (7.30m) and USA’s Kenyattia Hackworth (6.92m).
Moreover, in 2017, Brume 23, made the final of the event at the Olympics three years ago on her debut. Two years later, she has moved from 10th in 2017 in London to third in 2019.
Little wonder that Nigerians cast their votes for Brume among the 35 millions contestants. However, Ese Brume wasn’t the only person that shine at the award night. Bellow is the full list of winners:
