Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has issued a warning to the public regarding potential violence planned by suspected gunmen at the 23 local government headquarters across the state today. This alert came during a swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected local government chairpersons held at the government house in Port Harcourt.

During the ceremony, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of adopting a peaceful approach to governance. He urged the newly elected officials to prioritize non-violence as they begin their terms. Fubara reassured attendees that the controversies surrounding the recent local government elections have been resolved.

Fubara cautioned the chairpersons to be vigilant as they resume their duties on Monday. He revealed intelligence indicating that groups are mobilizing approximately 20 individuals per unit to confront them at their local government headquarters. “If they come with violence, please avoid them. The peace of this state is too important to us,” he stated.

The governor encouraged the officials to remain patient and strategic in their response to any confrontations. “Everyone knows what they are planning, but I urge you to follow my approach. If you are patient and calculative, you will always prevail at the right time. We have made promises to our people, and we will lead them to the Promised Land,” Fubara affirmed.
