Guri local government of Jigawa state has released N700, 000 to 10 flood-prone wards to cushion the effect of flood on residents of the communities.
Jaji-Adyani said each ward would receive N70, 000 to assist affected people and to buy sacrificial ram as well as other required items for the prayers.
He said that the devastation caused by flood annually in the area was huge and required divine intervention.
He said the prayer was necessary because out of the over 1,380 houses affected by this year’s flood, 830 houses were completely washed away by the flood.
“Up till now, we do not know the actual number of farmlands washed away, but I can tell you that over 80 per cent of our farmlands were destroyed by the flood.

“When you consider the magnitude of this disaster which strikes every year, the best thing to do is to seek for divine intervention,” he said.
Earlier, Chief Imam of Guri, Sheikh Shuaibu Haruna said seeking for forgiveness from Allah was imperative in the current travail.
“We need to reassess our actions because clearly, some of them are partly responsible for our predicaments.
“Today, immorality, and refusal to pay zakat are commonplace. We must repent if we want to live in peace,” he said. (NAN)
