LAGOS— Dr. Laolu Muhashi, the first son of Gbolahan Mudasiru, a former military governor of Lagos State who passed away in 2003, was struck and murdered by a car yesterday while riding a bicycle along Gerrad Road in the Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos.
He was sent to the Lagoon Hospital in Boudilon, Ikoyi, but died there.
When the event occurred, the late Laolu, 68, who served as the deputy managing director of Vetiva Capital, was cycling with two other individuals whose identities are unknown. However, it was reported that the other injured cyclists were reacting well to hospital care.
He holds an MSc in International Securities, Investments and Banking from the ICMA Centre of The University of Reading, UK, an M.B; B.S. from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria, and he is an alumnus of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, according to his biography on the website of his employer.
He is a member of the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria, a Dealing Member of the London Stock Exchange, and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, Nigeria.
He also received a Chevening Scholarship, which is given by the British government to “mid-career high fliers” around the world.
“Dr. Mudasiru is quite adaptable, and his 16 years of expertise span the gamut of investment banking spanning wealth management, financial intermediation, trading & dealing, and carrying out numerous transactions in the financial services business,” says the author.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the investment banker’s death and stated that the incident took place at around 5.30 am.

“It was a hit-and-run tragic car accident,” said Hundeyin. The driver and car’s manufacturer are still unknown.
“A group of traffic police officers from the Ikoyi division went to the hospital where the body was examined before being taken away and placed at a public morgue for an autopsy. The pursuit of the evading driver continues in the interim.
