Ibrahim Gusau Appointed NFF President

IBRAHIM GASAU APPOINTED AS NFF PRESIDENT

Ibrahim Gusau (NFF) has been chosen as the Nigeria Football Federation’s new president.

The football administrator from Zamfara received the most votes at the election, which was conducted in the capital of Edo State, Benin.

With 21 votes, Gusau took the lead over Barr in the first round. With 12 votes, Seyi Akinwunmi was in last place, followed by Mallam Shehu Dikko with 6 votes, Peterside Idah with 1, and Alhaji Abba Abdullahi Yola with 1.

David-Buhari Doherty and Dr Christian Emeruwa did not receive a single vote in the election.

The electoral committee, however, determined that Gusau fell short of the 22 votes needed to win the presidency.

Idah insisted on finishing the race despite the resignations of Akinwunmi, Dikko, and others. The electoral college ruled that he had to finish the race even though he later altered his mind.

Ibrahim Gusau received 39 votes in the second round while Idah received just one.

The eight-year leadership of the Amaju Pinnick-led board formally ends with Gusau taking over as chair of the new Executive Committee, which will manage the activities of the Federation for the following four years.
