The Gombe State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr. Johnson Adebiyi, has advised newly matriculated students of Federal University Kashere (FUK) to uphold good behavior and focus on academic excellence while on campus.
Speaking during the 2024/2025 Part-time Undergraduate Matriculation Ceremony held on March 13, 2025, at the university’s Entrepreneurship Centre, Adebiyi congratulated both the institution’s management and the matriculating students on the milestone. He emphasized the importance of discipline, ethical values, and dedication to studies, urging students to be exemplary in and outside the school environment.
JAMB Encourages FUK Students to Pursue Excellence
Addressing the students, Adebiyi noted that university life comes with freedom, but students must remain focused and disciplined to achieve their academic goals.
“You must embrace good conduct, shun social vices, and work hard to succeed in your academic pursuits. Your character defines your future, and this institution is known for producing disciplined graduates,” he stated.
JAMB: FUK’s Commitment to Expanding University Education
Speaking earlier, Prof. Umaru Alhaji Pate, Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Kashere (FUK), highlighted the university’s commitment to increasing access to quality education through its Part-time Programme, which started in the 2023/2024 academic session.

Other learners with special needs
According to Prof. Pate, 64 students have been admitted into various disciplines, including Sciences, Social Sciences, and Education.
He further reiterated that FUK has zero tolerance for social vices, including: Cultism
Indecent dressing
Drug abuse
“Any student found engaging in such acts will face severe consequences,” he warned.
JAMB’s Katsina Coordinator Commends WAEC for Adopting CBT Exam Mode
The Katsina State Coordinator of JAMB, Mr. Nasiru Garba Magashi, has commended the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for adopting the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) mode in its examination processes.
Speaking during WAEC’s 73rd Anniversary Celebration on March 17, 2025, in Katsina State, Magashi praised WAEC’s efforts in embracing technology-driven examination solutions to tackle challenges associated with paper-based exams.
“CBT adoption by WAEC is a game-changer that will enhance the efficiency, security, and credibility of public examinations,” Magashi said.

WAEC to Leverage JAMB’s CBT Expertise
Magashi further assured WAEC of JAMB’s willingness to assist in implementing CBT-related innovations, stressing that JAMB’s extensive experience in computer-based testing is unmatched.
“We encourage WAEC to leverage JAMB’s expertise in managing CBT examinations to ensure a seamless transition from traditional paper-and-pencil testing to digital assessments.”
WAEC’s Journey Towards CBT Examinations
The Katsina State WAEC Branch Controller, Dr. Moshood Olaniyi, noted that WAEC was established in 1952 to conduct internationally recognized examinations across Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Gambia, and Liberia.
According to him, WAEC successfully conducted its first-ever Computer-Based Test (CBT) in Nigeria during the January/February 2024 examination cycle. The CBT format was also used for the November/December 2024 and January/February 2025 exams, proving its effectiveness.
“WAEC remains committed to leveraging technology to enhance its examination processes and maintain global standards,” Olaniyi said.

The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) cultural troupe thrilled the audience with traditional music and performances, adding a touch of excitement to the occasion.
