BY MARY KUYE

Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Mohammed-Baloni said on Saturday that the State has recorded its first COVID-19 death.

Speaking through its verified Twitter handle,  Mohammed-Baloni said the deceased is a retired Civil Servant who had concealed his recent travel to Kano.

She explained that the deceased had underlying medical conditions and had visited the public and private hospital.

She said “He was eventually admitted at the isolation centre with respiratory distress. He died before his test result came positive.

“He is the first COVID-19 fatality in Kaduna State. His family has been informed of his demise and he has since been buried according to the burial protocol of the NCDC.

”Officials of the State’s ministry of health are already decontaminating the two hospitals visited by the deceased.”
