Lagos Fire Explosion Is National Tragedy

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the fire explosion which occurred on Sunday, killing and destroyed several buildings at Abule Ado in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State as a national tragedy

He specifically expressed sadness over the loss of many lives and property.

Buhari in a statement through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was already making efforts to determine the cause of the explosion.

He said: “President Muhammadu Buhari commiserates with families who lost loved ones, and all those affected by the explosion in Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Sunday.

“The President condoles with the Lagos State government and all residents affected by the unfortunate incident, which left many injured and destroyed property”, the statement said.

“I have received with sadness the news of this unfortunate incident which caused loss of lives and property.

“A misfortune of whatever scale anywhere is a tragedy to the country, and while the NNPC makes efforts to determine the cause of the incident, I send my deepest and profound sympathies to the victims, their families, government and people of Lagos State.”
