In a significant turn of events regarding the alleged murder of a staff member from Agbowa Local Government, prominent land merchant Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman Mayaki, CEO of MYK Land and Properties Ltd, has been indicted alongside another suspect. The indictment comes as part of an ongoing investigation led by the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

### Court Proceedings and Charges

During a recent session at a Lagos State Magistrate Court, Mayaki appeared with co-defendant Akande Omogbemi, facing two serious charges. The prosecution, represented by Mrs. Abiola Adeoye, informed the court of the developments in the case and requested a remand order as they await legal advice from the DPP.

In contrast, defense counsel Bright Uleyo contested the remand application, stating that no substantial evidence had been presented to warrant such a request. However, Magistrate Lateef Owolabi granted the remand order, directing that both defendants be held at Kirikiri prison for thirty days pending further legal guidance.

According to the police charges, on April 1, 2024, at approximately 09:00 hours in Otta Ikosi, Agbowa, the suspects allegedly conspired to commit robbery, violating Section 299 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. Additionally, they are accused of unlawfully killing Idowu Keshinro, an employee of Ikosi-Ejirin local government, which constitutes an offense under Section 233 of the same legal framework.
