Sequel to INEC’s declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president elect, Tinubu has extended the hands of fellowship to his fellow contestants Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso to work together for the betterment of Nigeria.
Tinubu accepted his victory as the elected president of Nigeria following an announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, declaring him the winner on Wednesday morning.
The nation’s highest office was hotly contested by candidates from 18 political parties.
Declaring the APC flagbearer as winner, Tinubu thanked everyone who voted in Saturday’s election, especially the ‘Articulated,’ ‘Obidients,’ ‘Batified,’ and ‘Kwankwasiyya’ supporters, in his victory acceptance speech this morning.
He said: “Whether you are BATified, Atikulated, Obidients, or Kwankwasiyya, I must thank you for working hard to straighten our democratic system.”
Addressing those who contested the position with him, Tinubu said: “Let’s collaborate and work together. I promise to work with you.”
“It’s my turn actually,” elated Tinubu reiterated in his address at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.
Tinubu added: “I am profoundly humbled to serve as the 16th President of our beloved country. This is a shining moment in the life of any man and an affirmation of our democratic existence.
“I take this opportunity to appeal to my fellow contestants to let us team up together. It is the only nation we have. It is one country and we must build together.”
