Maina To Remain In Prison Till End Of His Trial – Court

Justice Okon Abang  OF The Federal High Court, Abuja has on Friday ordered the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team, Abulrasheed Maina, in prison, till the end of his trial.

Maina imprisonment followed the request of the lawyer to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Mohammed Abubakar.

Ruling on the  EFCC’s application for a remand order, Justice Abang said: “The defendant is already on bench warrant having jumped bail. “So he shall be remanded in correctional centre pending the conclusion of the trial.”

Recall that Maina is being prosecuted by the EFCC on N2bn money laundering charges. After his first hearing in court, he was granted bail but however jumped the bail and ran to the Republic of Niger where he was rearrested and brought back to Nigeria on Thursday.
