Katsina State Reviews Private Health Training Institutions Over Compliance Issues
A visitation panel on private health training institutions in Katsina State has revealed alarming levels of noncompliance with regulatory and professional standards. The panel’s findings indicate that only nine out of 31 private health training institutions in Katsina meet the required operational benchmarks, raising concerns about the quality of healthcare education in the state. The panel, established by the State Governor, Dikko Radda, was inaugurated on October 25, 2024, with a mandate to evaluate the effectiveness and compliance of private health training institutions. While presenting the report at the State Government House, the panel chairman and Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr. Faisal Kaita, expressed concerns over the widespread noncompliance among private health training institutions in Katsina. “The majority of these institutions are unfit to operate due to noncompliance with both regulatory and professional requirements,” Kaita stated. Governor Radda Vows to Enforce Quality Standards
Governor Dikko Radda, while receiving the report during the State Executive Council meeting, commended the panel for conducting a thorough evaluation. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that only accredited and competent private health training institutions in Katsina are allowed to operate. “We must ensure that only qualified institutions are allowed to operate in the State,” Governor Radda emphasized. To act on the panel’s recommendations, the governor immediately directed the formation of a White Paper Committee.
