Borno State, Nigeria – The Nigerian Army has successfully neutralized 10 Boko Haram fighters and recovered a cache of automatic weapons during a high-impact military raid in Borno State. The operation also led to the arrest of a key terrorist collaborator known for extorting ransom payments on behalf of terrorist and bandit groups.
Major Raid in Borno: Terrorists Overpowered
According to an official statement from the Army, on February 17, 2025, troops operating in Bama Local Government Area executed a strategic assault deep inside Iza forest, a notorious terrorist stronghold.
“Overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the troops, 10 Boko Haram fighters were neutralized, while others fled in disarray. A mop-up operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and two fully loaded magazines,” the statement read.
Ambush in Zamfara: Bandit Financier Captured
In Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nigerian troops, acting on credible intelligence, ambushed a known bandit crossing in Tunfa village.
The operation resulted in the elimination of a terrorist and the capture of a high-value suspect linked to ransom negotiations for the notorious Sani Black terrorist faction.
Following the suspect’s confession, the troops stormed a bandit hideout in Tunga village, an infamous hub for the sale of rustled cattle. Multiple suspects were apprehended, and all bandit infrastructure in the area was destroyed.
Terror Suspect Apprehended in Sokoto
As part of its intensified counterterrorism efforts, the Army, acting on human intelligence, arrested a suspected terrorist at Illela Market in Sokoto State.
Army Chief Commends Troops, Calls for Civilian Support
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, praised the troops for their dedication and operational efficiency in combating terrorism and banditry across the country.
He urged Nigerians to support the military by providing reliable intelligence to aid ongoing efforts in eradicating terrorism.
