Mohammed Umar Abba As New EFCC Acting Chair

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Mohammed Umar Abba, as Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following the suspension of Ibrahim Magu.Magu is being quizzed for alleged corruption.

Mohammed, who, until his appointment, was the Director of Operations at the anti-graft agency, resumed duties yesterday.

Abba hails from Kano State. He is one of the most senior police officers seconded to the EFCC and is the director of operations.

The presidential probe panel on corruption allegations against the suspended acting chairman of EFCC sat again yesterday.

Headed by Justice Ayo Salami, the panel, which sat inside the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, specifically looked at sundry documents and chatted with persons connected to the case.

Access was again denied unauthorised persons at the premises, as Department of State Services (DSS) operatives manned the gate to provide watertight surveillance in the vicinity.
