Mr Adamu Nayola, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency stated that floods in the state killed 29 people and affected 2,934 others in 2022.
Nayola claimed this in a Thursday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Bauchi.
Nayola said: “In the 2022 flood, 29 individuals were proven dead and 2,934 others were affected in 250 different sites.
“At least 8,457 dwellings were demolished, 4,500 farmlands were swamped, 32 persons were injured, 26 highways were damaged, and 1,856 IDP households were also affected,” he stated.
In 2022, the agency, according to Nayola, would engage in effective flood management, such as early warning and extensive sensitization of state people.
Nayola stated that the agency would keep informing the public about early warning campaigns and mitigation actions.
