Sequel to Friday judgement that requested the Department of State Services (DSS) to pay N20 billion damages to popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Igboho, the DSS in reaction said it has not received any mandate from the court to that effect.
TheCheer News had reported Friday that Justice Ladiran Akintola of Oyo State High Court gave the order in a suit filed by Igboho, through his lawyer, Yomi Aliu, SAN for N500 billion damages for raiding Igboho’s apartment.
DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, told Daily Trust that the court possibly has not informed the secret police.
He said, “The court possibly has not informed us. So, my official response is that I don’t have any comments.”
Recall that Aliu had stormed the court to challenge the DSS raid on his residence located at Soka area, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, at about 1:30 am on July 1, 2021.
Igboho had asked the court to compel the respondents to jointly pay him the sum of ₦500 million as special damages for the damage done to his house and his car and another ₦500 billion as exemplary and aggravated damages for breaching his fundamental rights with the malicious invasion.
He also sought an order directing the Federal Government and the other respondents to tender a public apology in two national dailies and return all the items seized from the house which include: “N2m cash, one thousand Euros, travel documents among others”.
