Dr. Nkechi Ali-Balogun, the Chairman of the NIPR Council Committee on the Revitalization of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN), has expressed a strong commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders to rejuvenate PRCAN and fulfill its strategic objectives.
In accordance with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Public Relations Consultancy Practice Bye-Law No. 3 of 1993, the Governing Council of NIPR made a pivotal decision to dissolve PRCAN’s Executive Committee during its 117th Meeting on December 19, 2024.
Following her committee’s inauguration by Dr. Ike Neliaku, President/Chairman of the NIPR Council, Dr. Ali-Balogun—who is a Fellow and former NIPR Council member—assured PRCAN members of her dedication to consulting widely to gather insights that will align with the committee’s objectives. The committee, which operates until April 30, 2025, has been tasked with developing and implementing a short-term action plan aimed at enhancing PRCAN’s operational efficiency, in line with the NIPR’s vision for a robust and effective association. Additionally, the committee is responsible for overseeing elections for new PRCAN leadership during this transitional period.
In a recent communication to PRCAN members, Ali-Balogun emphasized her commitment to the transition process, stating that this moment presents a unique opportunity for revitalization and growth within the association. “I want to reassure you that my commitment to PRCAN remains unwavering. My goal is to work collaboratively with both outgoing and incoming executives, as well as all stakeholders, to ensure that PRCAN continues to thrive,” she affirmed.
Ali-Balogun explained that her acceptance of this role was driven by a desire for continuity and stability. She noted that the Institute’s decision to appoint a member from within PRCAN reflects its commitment to transparency and trust in their collective capabilities. “I am dedicated to collaborating with every member to address concerns, build trust, and facilitate a smooth transition that benefits all stakeholders,” she added.
She also expressed gratitude to the members who have volunteered to serve on the transition committee, urging them to contribute their best efforts to advance the Public Relations profession in Nigeria. “Our committee’s primary objective is to ensure a seamless transition, resolve outstanding issues, foster unity, sustain membership, conduct elections, and lay the groundwork for the incoming executive to build on our achievements,” emphasized Ali-Balogun.
Furthermore, she commended the outgoing PRCAN Executives, led by Mr. Israel Jaiye Opayemi, for their selfless service and dedication, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the association.
The revitalization committee comprises 12 members, including Vice Chairman Barr. Karibi George, fnipr, and Dr. Ahmad Sajoh, fnipr, along with Hajia Lami Tumaka, fnipr, Mr. Chido Nwakanma, mnipr, Mr. Hassan Abdul, mnipr, Mr. Bolaji Okusaga, mnipr, Mr. Adetola Odusote, mnipr, Mr. Muyiwa Akintunde, mnipr, Dr. Sophia Horsfall, anipr, and Ms. Mojisola Saka, anipr. Dr. Oludare Ogunyombo, mnipr, will serve as the Secretary for the Committee.
This revitalization initiative aims to strengthen PRCAN’s impact within the public relations landscape in Nigeria, fostering a more effective and collaborative environment for all members.
