Ondo Dares Buhari Passes Grazing Bill into Law

BY SEYIFUNMI LUMEKO

Ondo state has matched words with action as the State House of Assembly Friday passed into law, a bill to regulate security, rearing and grazing of livestock and establishment of ranches.

Hon Taofeek Oladele, the Chairman House Committee on Agriculture, while presenting the report on the grazing bill observed that the bill when passed into law will prevent the destruction of farm crops in the state.

According to Oladele, the passage of the grazing bill would address clashes between herders and farmers, enhance the growth of livestock farming, prevent control and manage the spread of diseases.

Hon Oleyelogun Bamidele, the Speaker of House after a thorough debate on the bill by the lawmakers, therefore ruled that the bill be passed into law considering an overwhelming vote in its favour.

Also, while presenting the report on the bill on prohibition of violence against persons, Hon Akintomide Akinrogunde said that the bill when passed into law will not only assist in eliminating violence against persons in public and private life but reduce attacks on women, children and other vulnerable persons.
