Ondo State Declares Mourning Period for Late SSG

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has declared a three-day mourning and prayer period from January 5 to 7, 2025, in honor of the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi.

Leading members of the State Executive Council on a condolence visit to Oluwatuyi’s family in Akure, Aiyedatiwa promised the government’s support during this challenging time.


Aiyedatiwa: “A Gentleman and Public Servant of Distinction”

The governor extolled Oluwatuyi’s contributions, stating, “He lived a fulfilled life and made positive impacts on many people. He was a recurring decimal in the politics and governance of Ondo State, and the history of our state cannot be written without mentioning his influence.”

In a condolence message, Aiyedatiwa wrote, “Tayo Oluwatuyi, you came, you lived, you performed your God-given tasks, and impacted lives. Rest in the bosom of your creator.”


Former Governor Mimiko Pays Tribute

Former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, described Oluwatuyi’s death as a profound loss to the state, his family, and political associates.

Mimiko stated, “He was a leading light in Akure land and a reputable political leader, loved for his gentle and calm disposition. Though gone too soon, he finished his earthly race with dignity.”


Remembering Oluwatuyi’s Legacy

Oluwatuyi passed away on Saturday while receiving treatment after a car accident. His contributions to Ondo State politics and governance are widely acknowledged by leaders and citizens alike.

The Ondo State government and other stakeholders have pledged to support the family during this difficult period.
