Protesters in Kaduna State have on Saturday paralysed commercial activities at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, located in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
The protesters were protesting the alleged killing of their people in Southern Kaduna, saying enough is enough.
The protesters though arrested by the Nigeria Police, they, however, defied the security operatives whose presence was said to have been intentional to intimidate them into aborting their demonstrations.
They insisted in the protest, described the killing of the people in the Southern part of Kaduna as genocide, stressing that the government has failed them.
The inscriptions on the cardboard of the protesters include, “Enough is Enough,” “We cannot continue like this,” “Southern Kaduna lives matter,” “Government has failed us,” “Allow us to defend ourselves if you can’t,” “End killings in Southern Kaduna,” among others.
They were calling on the federal and state governments to find a lasting solution to the killings in Southern Kaduna.

In its reaction, the state PPRO, Mohammed Jalige, said the protesters were arrested because they failed to obtained permission before the protest.
Jalige said: “Some of them were arrested because they did not inform us about the procession. I cannot tell you how many of them were picked now but I will get back to you later.”
