Police Confirm Death Of Two Students of Ado Grammar School

The Ekiti State Police Command, on Sunday, confirmed the death of two students of Ado Grammar School, Ado-Ekiti. Caleb Ikechukwu said the students were drowned in Ureje River, on Friday.

DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, the PPRO of the command said local divers retrieved the corpses of the drowned students. And deposited the corpses at a morgue.

Ikechukwu said the four students went to the river to swim and got drowned. Mr Ikechukwu the students’  bodies have been taken to the mortuary.

Mr Ikechukwu said that full investigations had begun into the circumstances behind the incident.

An anonymous source in the school said that about seven students on Friday scaled the school fence to go swimming. ”’Two of the four victims got drowned during the process of swimming, ” Anonymous said.

The source quoted one of the survivors as saying that four of them jumped into the river. Two of the four victims could not come out alive.

“Those on the river cliff had to raise the alarm for rescue. It was a farmer working nearby with the help of some local divers, who rescued two of the students.

“They later brought out the bodies of the two other boys,’’ Anonymous said.
