The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered the deployment of 1000 policemen from Lagos State to Edo State for the forthcoming governorship elections.
According to the Lagos Police command, the purpose of the deployment was to safeguard Saturday’s governorship election before, during and after the elections in the state.
The 1000 cops from Lagos is in fulfilment of Adamu’s earlier statement that 30,000 cops would be drawn from various commands and formations for the polls.
Odumosu, according to a statement by spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reminded them of the focus of the Police High Command was the sustenance of core democratic values through fair, free and credible elections.
He assured their welfare has been approved by the IG, adding the package was a morale booster for those deployed on the operation.
