Rwanda: Update COVID-19 (29 August 2020)

 

A hundred and one (101) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 6163 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to three thousand, eight hundred, and forty-three (3843). To date, one thousand, nine hundred and four (1904) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty-nine (39) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, nine hundred and twenty-three (1923) and sixteen (16) deaths.

 

The new cases are in Kigali (65) from Kigali market cluster, Rusizi (27) tests in high-risk groups, Rubavu (4), Gisagara (3) Muhanga (1), Karongi (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

 

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.

Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms jeopardise public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
