Sokoto Unveils Plans For Indigents Scholarships Abroad

Sokoto State government has disclosed plans to sponsor state indigents for degree programme at Darrasalam University in Indonesia.
Executive chairman, state Zakat and Waqf Commission, Malam Muhammad Lawal, has disclosed.

Makam Maidoki, who disclosed this in Bodinga town at the official opening ceremony of  31st state Islamic vocation course at the Government Girls Unity Secondary School, Bodinga.

He said the plan was part of the gains of the recent visit to Indonesia by the state Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, where bilateral discussions were held between the governor and relevant agencies in Indonesia

He said, under the plan, 46 orphans, two from each of the 23 local government areas of the state would be sponsored to undergo a four-year degree course  in Indonesia.

He called on the people of the state to always rally round government programmes and give their zakkat and waqaf to the commission for onward distribution to the needy.
