Okoi Obono-Obla, the former Chairman of the Special Presidential Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, on Saturday said some persons were bent on demonising him before Nigerians.
He said after he had been relieved of his job, the persons have been maligning him with the intention to break him.
Obono-Obla, who was recently declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, said this in a message he posted on his Facebook page.
Describing himself as a true patriot, he said he did his job with utmost dedication.
He lamented that even those who stole from the nation’s treasury were not treated the way he is being treated.
He, however, boasted that God and history will vindicate him.
He cited the example of the former South African leader, Nelson Mandela, who he said became a world icon after his persecution and imprisonment.
Obono-Obla said, “What (sic)are these people after me? They took their job away, yet they are not done!
“They smeared me in the media, they framed me! They lied against me! They declared me wanted!
“What offence have I committed? Even those who have stolen billions or contributed to the wrecking of the national economy are not treated with such indignities. Those who have corruptly enriched themselves!
“They just want to humiliate me! They want to break me! They want to demonise me before Nigerians!
