A police officer and former Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Badmus has posited that having tattoos all over your body does not necessarily make one a criminal.
Badmus who spoke in Lagos at the ongoing Social Media Week 2020 (SMW) explained that tattoos do not make people irresponsible in as much as they can express and explain themselves in a modest way.
Badmus who spoke during a session on the theme ‘Social Media Wars-Dreads, Tattoos and Password said counselled that whenever anyone was waved down by the police, “try to be friendly, identify yourself and be composed.”
Badmus said: ”Police remain your friend; even when you have tattoos all over your body. All one needs to do is to express and explain oneself and you will be allowed to go.
”No police officer has the authority or right to search people’s mobile devices.
“Police officers are only allowed to do so when there is a reason to carry out an investigation.

“The menace of police officers stopping residents of Lagos and demanding to search their phones has become increasingly worrisome. The development is wrong as a phone is a private space.”
