Brazilian Winger Suspended for Las Palmas and Real Valladolid Fixtures
Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is set to miss two upcoming La Liga matches against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid following his red card in the clash against Valencia. The Brazilian international was dismissed for striking Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski during Real Madrid’s first league match of 2025 at the Mestalla.
Despite the suspension, Vinicius will still be eligible to play in this week’s Spanish Super Cup.
Dramatic Victory for Real Madrid at the Mestalla
Valencia initially took the lead through their top scorer Hugo Duro in the first half. However, a thrilling comeback saw Real Madrid turn the game around in dramatic fashion. Substitute Luka Modric equalized in the 85th minute, and Jude Bellingham netted a stoppage-time winner to secure a 2-1 victory.
The win propelled Real Madrid to the top of the La Liga table, two points ahead of Atlético Madrid, albeit with a game in hand for their rivals.
Vinicius Junior Reacts to Red Card
Following the match, Vinicius Junior expressed remorse on social media. In a brief tweet, he wrote:
“Sorry, and thanks, team!”
Real Madrid Eyes Spanish Super Cup Glory
While the absence of Vinicius Junior may be a blow to Real Madrid in their league campaign, the team remains focused on their upcoming Spanish Super Cup fixtures. Manager Carlo Ancelotti will look to rotate his squad effectively as they juggle multiple competitions.
