The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, announced on Friday that on October 20, 2022, it will officially launch its long-awaited digital certificates to candidates.
It revealed that those who have lost their original certificate or got it burnt can apply for digital certificates after the official launch on October 20.
The Cheer News earlier reported that the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, unveiled plans to launch digital versions of the West African Senior School Certificate (WASSC) for those who have lost their originals.
WAEC’s Head of National Office (HNO), Mr Patrick Areghan, announced this on March 8, 2022, while addressing reporters ahead of WAEC’s Council meeting and 70th anniversary, which will be held next week in Abuja.

He said the initiative would reduce the inconveniences people experience after losing their certificates.
According to the WAEC HNO, the bearers of such lost certificates will now be able to request digital copies from wherever they are.
Areghan said: “If you lose your certificate from a particular year, you do not need to panic. Just use your phone to access our website and your digital certificate will be there.”
Areghan said the digital certificate was one of many initiatives WAEC Nigeria introduced to improve the operations of the Council in the last 70 years.
