Zamfara Police Command Confirms 16 Killed By Terrorists

Zamfara State Police Command has on Monday refuted the claim that terrorists killed 24 persons in Zamfara on Sunday, adding that it was only 16 persons that were confirmed dead.

The killings of the 16 persons occurred on Sunday during their attack in Ganar Kiyawa village of Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Shehu, told NAN in Gusau that the figure of 24 deaths was not correct.

He claimed that 16 villagers were killed by the bandits during the attack, not 24 or 20.

“The command, in collaboration with the military, is currently conducting an extensive bush combing of the affected community.
” This is with a view to returning normalcy and apprehending the perpetrators of this bizarre crime,” Shehu said.
He called on the people of the state to continue to support government and security agencies with useful information.
The spokesperson said such cooperation would complement efforts at addressing the security challenges facing the state.
