Nine Vehicles Involved in Crash Due to Excessive Speeding
No fewer than 32 people narrowly escaped death in a multiple-vehicle collision along the Danco axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.
According to Seni Ogunyemi, Commandant of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the crash involved nine vehicles and was caused by excessive speeding and a loss of control by one of the drivers.
Scania Truck Loses Control, Sparks Chain Reaction of Collisions
The incident began when a Scania truck loaded with perishable goods lost control due to speeding and fell on the expressway, blocking a section of the highway.
Another vehicle, driven recklessly, collided with the fallen truck, triggering a chain reaction that involved eight additional vehicles.
Ogunyemi reported, “A Sino truck driver loaded with granite hit a Sienna from the rear, which led to a series of collisions involving other vehicles.”
