The amount allotted for the presidential campaign in 2019 was N1 billion, but the Electoral Act of 2022 increased that amount to N5 billion.

According to a report by the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa, spending by the government and politicians in the months before elections often increased due to the need to win over voters’ hearts and gain more votes through campaigns.

There seems to be more money changing hands for various reasons during electioneering. For instance, it was said that the major political parties’ primaries—particularly those of the All Progressives Congress, which is in power, and the People’s Democratic Party, which is in opposition—were a significant factor in the nation’s currency shortage.

The majority of candidates, particularly those running for president, and their supporters will visit states to campaign. The transportation industry, including airlines and interstate commercial buses, will see a significant increase in demand as a result.

Candidates will use a variety of materials to advertise themselves during campaigns, including banners, posters, pamphlets, and personalized t-shirts. Therefore, it will be a huge boost for graphic designers around the nation whose services will be in demand.

The majority of candidates will use event planners’ services, who will take care of the necessary logistics throughout campaigns. Event spaces, canopies, megaphones, DJs, and other event necessities will be in great demand. The logistics sector will have active participants.

The benefits of electioneering will also extend to the entertainment sector. Celebrities have been involved in politics over the years, either directly or indirectly through their work.

On campaign grounds, singers are paid to perform to amuse the crowd and support the politicians.

Dauda Rarara and Naziru Ahmad are two prominent singers from northern Nigeria who are paid to utilize their skills to disparage opponents and promote their favorite politicians. Hip hop artists like David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, and Fuji musicians like Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, widely known as KWAM 1, are more artists to keep an eye out for throughout campaigns.

There will be a significant demand for food and lodging because many politicians and some of their followers will travel throughout the country to campaign. There will be an increase in the number of people using the food and hotel industries’ services.

As political activities reach their climax in the coming months, advertising on local, national, and worldwide media outlets, jingles, commercials, appearances on television, articles published, and participation of social media influencers, among other things, will continue to expand.
