Chief Justice of Nigeria summons chief judges of 6 states over conflicting decisions

BY QUADRI SALIU

Justice Tanko Muhammad, the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Commission,  has summoned the chief judges in Rivers State and the Kebbi States.

Besides the two judges summoned in the two states, judges from Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa, and Imo states were also summoned over conflicting decisions given by courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

Justice Tanko Muhammad writes: “It has become expedient for me to invite you for a detailed briefing on the development.

“This is even more compelling, having regard to earlier NJC warning to judicial officers on the need to be circumspect in granting ex parte applications,” the summon sent to the chief judges read in part.
