Dalung: Tinubu’s Cabal More Powerful and Dangerous than Buhari’s

Solomon Dalung

By DAYO ADESULU

Former Youth and Sports Minister Solomon Dalung, has warned of a more powerful and sophisticated cabal surrounding President Bola Tinubu compared to the one during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

  • Composition of Tinubu’s Cabal:
Dalung described Tinubu’s cabal as highly educated, ambitious, and refined individuals with a deep understanding of power dynamics, making them adept at manipulating governance and isolating the president.
  • Comparison to Buhari’s Cabal:
While acknowledging the existence of a cabal during Buhari’s tenure, Dalung argued that it was composed of less experienced individuals with narrow motives, limiting their influence compared to Tinubu’s team.
  • Denial of Cabal Existence:
Dalung criticized attempts to deny the presence of cabals in Nigerian governance, calling it unfair to future generations. He stressed the need to acknowledge their existence and the dangers they pose to democracy.

Dalung’s Concerns on Governance:

  1. Policy Impact on Nigerians:
    • Dalung questioned if Tinubu’s government was fulfilling its constitutional duty to ensure the well-being of citizens, as outlined in Chapter 2 of the Nigerian Constitution.
    • He highlighted growing frustration among Nigerians over government policies.
  2. Cabal’s Influence:
    • He expressed fears that the cabal’s control could hinder effective governance, isolate the president, and exacerbate the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

Dalung’s Criticism of Government Performance:

  • Economic Hardship:
    • The former minister noted widespread dissatisfaction among citizens, asserting that government policies are not meeting public expectations.
  • Governance for the People:
    • Dalung questioned whether the administration is prioritizing the well-being of its people, a fundamental goal of governance.
