Minister of State for Youth Development vows collaboration with Nigeria Youths Union to tackle pressing youth issues.

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Olawande Ayodele, has expressed the Federal Government’s strong commitment to fostering national solidarity and advancing the development of the youth in Nigeria. The minister’s remarks came during a visit from a delegation of the Nigeria Youths Union (NYU) to his office in Abuja.

Addressing Youth Concerns

According to a statement released on Wednesday, signed by NYU President Chinonso Obasi, the discussion revolved around the pressing demands made by the youth delegation, including the urgent need to reorganize the Nigerian youth structure and reorient young people towards promoting national cohesion.

Obasi highlighted the severe impact of the current economic situation, insecurity, unemployment, and inadequate infrastructure on Nigerian youths, stating, “The bad economy and lack of opportunities are hitting young people hard.”

Collaborative Efforts for a Better Nigeria

In his response, Minister Ayodele commended the NYU for its advocacy in vital areas such as primary healthcare, local government autonomy, youth inclusion in governance, anti-corruption initiatives, and addressing the challenges posed by illegal mining. He emphasized the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the NYU in tackling these pressing issues.

“The Nigerian Youth Union has been at the forefront of advocating for a better Nigeria,” Ayodele remarked. “We are eager to work together on patriotic calls aimed at fostering national solidarity and the development of our youth.”

A Vision for the Future

The minister’s statements signify a positive step towards addressing the concerns of Nigerian youth and ensuring that their voices are heard in governance and policy-making. As the nation grapples with various challenges, the collaboration between the Federal Government and youth organizations like the NYU could play a crucial role in shaping a more inclusive and equitable future for Nigeria’s young population.
