Mr Duruocha Osita Joel, an INEC officer who was kidnapped on Wednesday in the state of Anambra, has been discovered dead.
Festus Okoye, a national commissioner of INEC and chairman of the committee for information and voter education, reaffirmed this in a statement on Friday.
He stated that Joel, a Principal Executive Officer II in Grade Level 10, had vanished and that the commission’s Administrative Secretary in Anambra State, Mr Okwuonu Jude, had informed authorities of the absence.

“Mr Duruocha’s lifeless body was recovered along Isu-Aniocha-Urum route in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, where unknown persons dumped him, the Administrative Secretary further informed the commission on Thursday, September 29.
The body was removed and taken to the mortuary by other commission employees, Duruocha’s brother, and the police, according to Okoye.
He declared that an investigation had been launched by the police and other security organizations to ascertain the facts behind Duruocha’s absence and subsequent demise.
