The top three candidates from this week’s show, Quest, Victory Gbakara, and Precious Mac, all gave memorable performances on the musical reality platform that would send the victor home with delectable goodies. With the elimination of Ose Daniel and Goodness from Season 8 of the Bigi-sponsored Nigerian Idol, the competition is becoming more intense.
As the show’s climax drew near, the three finalists engaged in a “Viewer’s Choice” competition with a live show theme. During the evening, each singer gave two performances—one of an unplugged rendition of a popular song and the other of a fan favourite.
Ikechukwu Eric Ahiauzu, also known as Ric Hassani, the guest judge, opened the show before the stage performances started with a medley of his classics, including “Thunder Fire You” and “Amina,” to a standing ovation from the judges and the audience, who were mesmerised by his talents.
Quest, the first competitor to perform “I Don Go” (IDG) by Asa, was introduced thanks to his acts. The judges gave her performance high marks. You have the perfect voice, Obi Asika said in his remark, and Simisola Kosoko (Simi) concurred, saying, “Amazing, it was wonderfully done.” Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (D’Banj), on the other hand, lauded her for their engaging performance. Quest’s second performance, “Hello” by Adele, which was chosen by her fans, equally impressed the judges and crowd.
Hassani said, “I am thrilled with your performance on stage,” to which Victory replied, “I was excited when l realised that song was chosen for me.” Hassani was charmed by the singer’s performances of Wizkid’s “Blessed” and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” lyrics.
Precious Mac’s performance of “Beggie Beggie” by Ayra Starr excited Simi, who said, “She has a good voice and that was what propelled her to the top 3.” She received praise from the other judges for her singing, and they urged her to keep going because she has so much promise.
Precious Mac performed “Diamonds” by Rihanna, and both the judges and the audience gave her standing ovations. D’Banj said, “You made us feel you,” and Hassani added, “I’m proud of you. as well
The candidates are indeed trying their hardest to reach the finals in a competition where the Rite Foods Bigi brand, with its 13 varieties, is enabling the discovery of new musical talents who would be fostered to become superstars.
